A new international, multidisciplinary initiative recognizing the need to improve the ways in which the output of scientific research is evaluated.
Open Scholar has signed the San Francisco Declaration on Research Assessment (DORA), joining another 260 (to date) international organisations, who support a series of recommendations towards funding agencies, institutions, publishers, organisations that supply metrics, and researchers, aiming to improve research assessment practices.

DORA recommendations are in agreement with the new academic culture that Open Scholar aims to promote through the LIBRE platform. LIBRE will provide article-level metrics that will take into account a series of assessment parameters, including open peer reviews and user ratings. Importantly, the relative importance of these parameters on the final assessment will be openly decided by the community and the evaluation algorithm will become available so that others can freely use it.
